Beach Day Casual

For me, growing up in a coastal city, summer doesn't official begin with out a visit to the beach; and although I have the beach at my fingertips basically all year long, there's just something about summer that makes it all that more freeing and blissful.
My top is from Forever 21. Find it HERE
Much like that much-loved pair of jeans we all own and have worn probably more than any other article of clothing in our closet, these are my favorite shorts. I found them at American Eagle Outfitters 3 or 4 years ago, and they are still the first thing I throw on when summer roles around.

Keeping true to the theme this week, I had to throw in a little red, white, and blue some where.
This scarf is from Charming Charlie's and I just adore it. I couldn't find this exact one to link for you guys, but I wanted to link to Charming Charlie's scarves because they always have a great selection and right now they're 2 for $20, I couldn't not share such a great deal! Find them HERE
I hope everyone get's to feel the wind in their hair on the shore at least once this summer.

Thanks for stopping by.

XO. Brit

Retro Red, White, & Blue + What to Wear For any Event on the 4th of July

The city I live in happens to be home to one of the most famous Navy ships of World War II, the USS Lexington. I have visited the ship many times over the years since it's arrival in Corpus Christi (I even preformed in a play there once with my middle school drama club, but that's neither here nor there.) It was such a big part of my youth, that one of the very first things that comes to my mind when I think of our country's freedom and Independence day is this historic aircraft carrier.
So, I wanted to do something fun for the blog that reflected my love for 1940's Americana style. Although I was seriously tempted to dress up like Rosie the Riveter (what girl secretly doesn't want to do that at least once right?) I decided to take a more modernized approach to the classic style of the 40's.
This amazing top and these adorable pants are both by BCBG.
My shoes are from Forever 21.

My sunglasses are by Ray Ban.
Thanks for stopping by again today...See you tomorrow. xo -Brit

For many of us Independence day means time spent with friends, family, food, and fireworks; and if you're feeling festive this year, (like I obviously am) then you will need a fabulously hued red, white, and blue outfit that fits any summer celebration. I've put together a few outfit ideas below that are sure to be a hit at whatever event you grace with your presence this July 4th.

What to wear on the 4th: Watching Fireworks

what to wear on the 4th: Backyard BBQ

What to Wear on the 4th: Date Night

What to Wear on the 4th: Brunch with the Girls

Fourth of July: Beach Party

Traditionally Chic in Blue & White + Sparking Jewelry Finds For the 4th

It's safe to say that I love fashion and dressing to suit any season or occasion, but around the 4th of July I find myself extra giddy at the thought of all the adorable and fun outfit possibilities. I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to my wardrobe, so I tend to be a tad more classic in my styling than I am trendy. So, in sticking with tradition, and staying true to the American gal I am, I thought I'd kick off my week of Americana Fashion with a traditionally chic look.

I think there is something so feminine and romantic about a tea length lace skirt. I've paired my white one from Forever 21 with a vibrant cobalt blue cropped top (also from Forever 21.) This would be the perfect outfit for a 4th of July date with your honey or even a lovely dinner with family and friends.

I threw on this white hat I've had lying around in my closet, for what seems like forever, basically because I can never resist an opportunity to wear a summer hat. (As you've probably already noticed if you follow my blog due to my slight fedora obsession.) A classic sun hat like this adds the perfect amount of sweetness to balance out the softness of the skirt.

These earrings, which are my absolute favorite patriotic inspired find this year, are from Charming Charlie's. I will definitely be rocking these on the 4th.
This woven clutch is from Francesca's
My gold cuff was a total steal from Forever 21.

I thought a splash of red would really make this outfit perfect for Independence day, so I added a classic red pump. Mine are by Vince Camuto; these are seriously THE most comfortable closed toe pumps I own.
