Retro Red, White, & Blue + What to Wear For any Event on the 4th of July

The city I live in happens to be home to one of the most famous Navy ships of World War II, the USS Lexington. I have visited the ship many times over the years since it's arrival in Corpus Christi (I even preformed in a play there once with my middle school drama club, but that's neither here nor there.) It was such a big part of my youth, that one of the very first things that comes to my mind when I think of our country's freedom and Independence day is this historic aircraft carrier.
So, I wanted to do something fun for the blog that reflected my love for 1940's Americana style. Although I was seriously tempted to dress up like Rosie the Riveter (what girl secretly doesn't want to do that at least once right?) I decided to take a more modernized approach to the classic style of the 40's.
This amazing top and these adorable pants are both by BCBG.
My shoes are from Forever 21.

My sunglasses are by Ray Ban.
Thanks for stopping by again today...See you tomorrow. xo -Brit

For many of us Independence day means time spent with friends, family, food, and fireworks; and if you're feeling festive this year, (like I obviously am) then you will need a fabulously hued red, white, and blue outfit that fits any summer celebration. I've put together a few outfit ideas below that are sure to be a hit at whatever event you grace with your presence this July 4th.

What to wear on the 4th: Watching Fireworks

what to wear on the 4th: Backyard BBQ

What to Wear on the 4th: Date Night

What to Wear on the 4th: Brunch with the Girls

Fourth of July: Beach Party

Feeling Bright and Lovely...

I have just been loving the color combo of white and bright cobalt blue this season; I just posted a look using this color scheme last week (see it HERE,) and I am pretty sure my love for the classic white and blue will grace the pages of my blog again very soon (hint, hint.)
There is just something that seems so light, refreshing, and vibrant, about a white pallet with a blissful color popped on top in a great pattern.
So, when this dress caught my eye the other day at a local department store I couldn't pass it up! On top of the beautiful color, it happens to be printed with a fabulous floral pattern too...and it was 50% off...I consider this a fabulous fashion score.
The dress is by the brand Cremieux which is actually a brand I tend to gravitate towards quite often due to it's simplistic, tradition style, not to mention their wonderful use of color.

I paired it with one of my favorite nude pairs of shoes by BCBG. It's always a good idea to have a go-to nude pair of heels in your closet; they go with nearly everything and they will save you from searching the shoe departments for that perfect matching color to any brightly hued item in your wardrobe.

The blue tones on this dress happened to be in the exact same shade as the Kate Spade bag I had picked up at Nordstrom Rack a few months ago...I love when these little matches made in fashion heaven take up residence in my closet.
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today. Happy Friday!

Cropped...

Not only are they seriously on trend this summer, but nothing beats the heat like a cropped top. So, I thought I'd share with you how I'm rocking the Cropped Top this season...
Classic Black and white paired with small touches of bold color really give this look a bright summer time vibe...My Cropped Top is from Francesca's and my maxi skirt is a steal I picked up at Marshall's
The Jewelry I've paired with this little number is from Charming Charlie's and Forever 21
My Black & White handbag that I happen to be obsessed with right now is by Michael Kors

Let me know how you plan to rock a cropped top this summer.
